LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN Expand

Landscape Contractor is dedicated to making homes and properties more beautiful from the outside in. This position requires interaction with others from different backgrounds, experience levels, and work ethics. It is expected that the Technician demonstrates teamwork, kindness, respect, and professionalism. As a professional at Landscape Contractor, responsibility and trustworthiness are central to maintain a healthy working climate. The Landscape Technician should contribute in a positive and respectful relationship with customers, with their crew, and with the management team.

 

DAILY TASKS:
The Technician will be responsible for assisting the Landscape Foreman or Crew Leader in all the team's projects. You will report directly to the Foreman or Crew Leader for all concerns, questions, issues, and customer requests. You will need to have a working knowledge of the standard operating procedures of all aspects of landscaping and the ability to learn all concepts that deal with outdoor landscaping. The physical demands of this job require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and frequently operating machinery. This job requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements. This may include heavy to moderate noise and exposure to tools and machines used in outdoor landscaping.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current and valid Driver's license
  • Job experience in related field preferred

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Between 45-55 hours per week from April-December
  • Be on call from December-March for snow removal
  • Competence in operating ALL landscaping/hardscaping equipment, powered and non-powered
  • Competence in operating all relevant machinery or willing to learn
  • Competence in assisting with all landscape install projects, shrub pruning, mulching, leaf removals, plant & sod installations, edging, etc.
  • Competence in operating a zero turn mower, or the willingness to learn
  • Time management and problem solving skills
  • Reliability and timeliness
  • Flexibility to complete tasks as needed by company

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

The technician does his/her best to maintain a positive and respectful relationship with the customer, with their crew, and with the management team.

You will report directly to the Foreman for all concerns, questions, issues, and customer requests. You will need to have a working knowledge of the standard operating procedures of all aspects of outdoor construction. Unpaid continuing education credits may be required for this position.

The physical demands of this job require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and frequently operating machinery. This job requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements. This may include heavy to moderate noise and exposure to tools and machines used in outdoor construction. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current and valid Driver's license

 

    • Prior hardscaping experience preferred

 

EXPECTATIONS:

    • Able to work approximately 40-55 hours per week from April-December

 

    • Able to work approximately 15-40 hours per week from January-March (on call snow removal)

 

    • Competence in operating ALL landscaping/hardscaping equipment, powered and non-powered.

 

    • Competence in assisting with segmental retaining walls, paver patios, edging, concrete, and carpentry.

 

    • Competence in assisting with shrub pruning, mulching, leaf removals, plant installations, and the installation of river rock

 

    • Time management and problem solving skills

 

    • Reliability and timeliness

This position requires interaction with others from different backgrounds, experience levels, and work ethics. It is expected that the Hardscape Foreman leads their team in demonstrating kindness, respect, and professionalism, especially with those who do not reciprocate. As a professional at Willie C. & Sons Landscaping, responsibility and trustworthiness are central to maintain a healthy working climate. As a supervisor, time management and problem solving are essential. The Foreman should maintain a positive and respectful relationship with the customer, with their crew, and with the management team.

 

DAILY TASKS:
The Hardscape Foreman will be responsible for leading themselves, 1-2 crew members, and equipment operation as well as ensuring that all assigned projects are well-maintained and well executed. Typical assigned jobs will include segmental retaining walls, paver patios, natural stone work, edging, concrete, grading/excavation, and drainage. The Hardscape Foreman reports directly to the construction project manager for all concerns, questions, issues, and customer requests.

 

 The physical demands of this job require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and frequently operating machinery. This job requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to the elements. This may include heavy to moderate noise and exposure to tools and machines used in outdoor construction.

    • Current and valid Maine Driver's license

 

    • Competence in driving a commercial truck

 

    • 3-4 years minimum of Hardscape experience. Duties would include building Outdoor Kitchens, Fireplaces, Fire Pits, Patios, Retaining Walls, Walkways, Driveways, etc…

 

    • Masonry skills (Preferred)

 

    • Ability to lift 50lbs or more

 

    • Experience in a leadership role preferred

 

 

EXPECTATIONS:

    • Able to work approximately 40-55 hours per week from April-December
    • Able to work approximately 15-40 hours per week from January-March
    • Expertise in operating ALL landscaping/hardscaping equipment, powered and non-powered.
